Mike evaluates the extent of the student's knowledge and reteaches any missing (or misunderstood) topics. Since math topics build on each other, today's difficulties are frequently rooted in an earlier topic. Mike probes back to the root causes and rebuilds the student's knowledge from the bottom up.

Assessment tests are administered in the classroom every couple of weeks - with a final exam at the end of the semester. Mike prepares students for the stress and time limits associated with these continuous tests. Repeated practice is employed to achieve a high level of comfort with the type of question expected. Mike focuses on building the student's proficiency, confidence, and speed.

Today's continuous grading system allocates 80% of the class grade to homework and biweekly assessment tests. As a result, students are rewarded for staying up-to-speed, proficient, and "test ready" at all times. Mike ensures students stay current via weekly tutoring sessions. Emerging knowledge gaps are identified immediately as they surface and are resolved in time to make a positive impact on homework and assessment test scores.
